Gallery Talk with Dr. Beth S. Wright: Historical Representation in 19th Century French Art: The Journey of an Interdisciplinary Art Historian
How is it possible to represent in visual terms the thoughts and emotions and meaning of the past? Dr. Beth S. Wright, retired distinguished research professor of art history and dean emerita, has taken an interdisciplinary approach to her research on French 18th and 19th century, incorporating art, literary fiction, historiography, and other aspects necessary to “following the trail.” Her talk incorporates personal history as well as scholarly reflection on her career at UT Arlington over four decades.
"Historical Representation in 19th Century French Art: The Journey of an Interdisciplinary Art Historian” is part of Transitions exhibition at The Gallery at UTA, featuring work by Lisa Graham, Bryan Florentin, Darryl Lauster, and Andrew Ortiz, on view Oct. 12 - Nov. 14, 2026.
