Berkeley
Bay Area Motorcycle Training: Motorcyclist Training Course
This beginner-focused motorcycle course introduces new riders to essential skills through modern training techniques grounded in decades of safety research. It is designed for those with no experience on a motorcycle or any other motor vehicle, and many participants are riding during the opening exercises. Students who successfully complete the class receive a DL389, which may waive the M1 skills test at the DMV and satisfies the licensing requirement for individuals under 21. The program is the only option within San Francisco city limits that offers the M1 test waiver, with additional locations in Alameda, formerly California Rider Education and convenient to the Oakland and Berkeley area, and in Vallejo at the Solano County Fairgrounds across from Discovery Kingdom.
