Boedecker Theater
TICKETS This Halloween Eve, we’re serving up two very different kinds of terror. Join us in the Boedecker Theater for a special Movie Scare-a-thon Double Feature featuring two iconic horror films: 1935’s The Bride of Frankenstein and 1976’s Carrie .
Costumes are highly encouraged, the popcorn is free , and we’ll be celebrating all things spooky throughout the evening. Whether your poison is classic monsters or supernatural revenge, we’ve got your Halloween movie night covered.
THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935) One of the most celebrated films of classic Hollywood horror, The Bride of Frankenstein finds Frankenstein’s monster surviving his fiery fate and longing for companionship. When the sinister Dr.
Pretorius convinces Henry Frankenstein to create a mate for the monster, the experiment leads to one of cinema’s most unforgettable creations. Darkly funny, visually stunning, and wonderfully strange, it’s a monster movie that helped define the genre.
Not just an obligatory sequel, “The Bride of Frankenstein is a complex weaving of Shelley’s subtext of the moral implications scientific discovery.” CARRIE (1976) Brian De Palma’s chilling adaptation of Stephen King’s novel stars Sissy Spacek as Carrie White, a painfully shy teenager tormented by her classmates and controlled by her fanatically religious mother. But Carrie has a secret: powerful telekinetic abilities.
When a cruel prank turns prom night into a nightmare, years of humiliation erupt in one of horror cinema’s most legendary finales. Stephen King has frequently expressed love and admiration for Brian De Palma’s 1976 film adaptation of his debut novel Carrie , stating that he “loved” the movie and thought De Palma handled the material in a “more artistic” way than he did.
Two horror classics. Free popcorn.
Costumes encouraged. One seriously spooky night at the Dairy.
Reports are sampled and deduplicated by source and reason.
