Jazz Combos

The Kennesaw State University Jazz Combo Program was launched in 2006 and currently features eight jazz combos. Students in the KSU jazz combo program learn traditional and modern jazz repertoire and are encouraged to find their own voice through writing original arrangements and compositions.

KSU Jazz Combos have been featured at the Jazz Education Network national conference; the Georgia Music Educators Association in service clinic in Savannah; the International Festival of University Theatre in Casablanca, Morocco; and multiple performances in Montepulciano, Italy in 2014. In January 2017, KSU’s top jazz combo released Global, a set of original student compositions available on all streaming platforms.

Tonight’s program will feature four student Jazz Combos performing three pieces each. Specific programming will be announced from the stage.

KSU Combos are directed by Justin Chesarek, Marc Miller, Justin Powell and Luke Weathington. Trey Wright coordinates the Jazz Combo program.
