The Writing Triumvirate with Ben Parris - A Three-part Writers Workshop Series
Monday, Nov 2, 2026 at 6 p.m.: Characterization
Monday, Nov 9, 2026 at 6 p.m.: Conflict
Monday, Nov 16, 2026 at 6 p.m.: Plot
Characterization identifies the people in the story including their flaws, goals, and fears. Conflict introduces a problem or clash of opposing desires that disrupts the characters' lives. Plot is the chain reaction of events that happens when characters try to solve the conflict. When writing a novel, you can't have one without the other. Character drives plot, conflict tests character, and the struggle creates a rising action or climax for the plot's structure. Author Ben Parris will explain the importance of each of these areas, how to cultivate each one to intensify the novel, and how these three areas are key to writing a great book that people will want to read. Participants who attend all three workshops will receive a certificate of completion.
Free admission & open to the public. Books by the author will be available for purchase and signing after the presentation. No reservations needed. Seating will be first come, first served and may be limited. For more information, please call 702.507.3458.
