Special StoryTime Event at Caramel Crisp Bookstore! Meet Sara Bargaehr Author of “Let’s Meet at the Dog Park” Saturday, Oct 31st (Halloween) 10 am to 1 pm (Storytime at 11 am) A portion of book sales will benefit Waushara County Animal Shelter ! “Let’s Meet at the Dog Park” was written by Sara Daye Bargaehr in honor of her mom, Beverly Daye, and Beverly’s beloved rescue dog, Leo .

The story revolves around the relationships that develop among dog lovers when they meet each other “at the dog park”. The author will be on hand for a very special Caramel Crisp Storytime Event at 11 am on Saturday, October 31st (Halloween!).

The book was inspired by a chance meeting that Sara had when she brought Leo to the Wautoma Dog Park after her mother died. A woman there recognized Leo, and told Sara that her mother Beverly had encouraged her to become a doctor!

This encounter was very meaningful to Sara, filling her with pride for her mom and a new understanding of how a love of animals can bring people together and lead to life-long friendships. The story is brought to vibrant life by artist Stephanie Crane of Waupaca, who turned Sara’s “stick figures” into the beautiful, colorful, and fun drawings featured throughout the book.

The illustrations depict people you might meet at the dog park, followed by drawings of the same people in the “real world”. For example, the first page is a drawing of Sara’s Uncle Jimmy at the Dog Park, and the next page is of him in the “real world” as a farmer.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of “Meet Me at the Dog Park” will benefit the Waushara County Animal Shelter!
