Empower Ink Documentary Screening
Rooted in research from the Medical Tattooing Following Mastectomy (MTFM) Project, Empower Ink bridges the worlds of psychology and art. The film follows a clinical psychology researcher and a tattoo artist who examine the emotional and therapeutic impact of medical tattooing on breast cancer survivors.
Through their work and the stories of the women they touch, tattooing becomes more than ink, it becomes a language of recovery, reclaiming identity, and celebrating resilience. Empower Ink was created to expand the conversation around healing after breast cancer.
Beyond informing audiences about medical tattooing, the film raises awareness of the emotional and psychological journeys survivors navigate, while fostering a sense of community and visibility. At its core, the documentary explores how art can become a powerful tool for reclaiming identity, restoring confidence, and supporting healing.
It also advocates for the recognition of medical tattooing as an essential part of post-mastectomy care, encouraging greater accessibility and integration within treatment. Ultimately, Empower Ink is a reflection on resilience—highlighting how healing continues beyond survival, and how art can transform scars into symbols of strength and renewal.
