Steam Pump Ranch: Museum Treasures Meet United Way’s Day of Caring

Big changes continue at the Oro Valley Historical Society, as we digitize our full collection to make history easier to explore. During this process, we’ve brought out seldom‑seen artifacts for visitors to enjoy while our rotating exhibits take a break.

The Museum is open for you to see those artifacts, and volunteers will be on site to answer questions and provide additional information. Self-guided tours of the Museum are complimentary, with donations gratefully accepted to help us keep Oro Valley history alive.

Today, we will be welcoming volunteers in connection with United Way’s Day of Caring program from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Volunteers will be working in the Heritage Garden to perform services such as watering, planting seeds, picking vegetables, digging holes to either plant trees or irrigation lines, and designing an area to replicate corn grinding and seed sorting, spreading wood chips, and preparing new garden beds.

This will definitely give our visitors an opportunity to see what it takes to make a Heritage Garden bloom!
