Coal Run City Park: The Mountain Grrl Experience 2026

Each fall, Pike County becomes the gathering place for a powerful celebration of creativity, community, and purpose. In 2026, The Mountain Grrl Experience returns for another inspiring weekend, bringing together music, art, education, and advocacy in a welcoming environment where all are encouraged to participate. The Mountain Grrl Experience will take place October 16–17, 2026, at a new location in Coal Run City Park, Pike County, Kentucky. Thanks to sponsorships and grant funding, this multi-day event remains free and open to the public.

A Festival with Purpose The Mountain Grrl Experience is a music and art event intentionally designed to feature and promote the creativity of women in Appalachia. The festival is rooted in the belief that artistic expression and community connection can create meaningful change, especially when nurtured in a safe and supportive space. While the event centers the voices and talents of Appalachian women, all are welcome. The festival fosters inclusivity, respect, and dialogue while shining a light on the strength, resilience, and artistry found throughout the region. In addition to celebration, the Mountain Grrl Experience raises both funds and awareness for charitable organizations in Appalachia that support women and children’s services, particularly those aiding victims of domestic abuse. The long-term mission is to celebrate and nurture Appalachian women while working toward a future where all females are safe and equally respected.

Something for Everyone

Over the course of the weekend, attendees can expect a thoughtfully curated experience that goes well beyond live performances. The Mountain Grrl Experience brings together music, visual art, education, and community engagement in a way that encourages participation and connection. The event includes:

Live music performances from Appalachian and regional artists

A juried art gallery featuring original works by women artists

Interactive workshops that inspire creativity and collaboration

Educational programs and panel discussions focused on empowerment, artistry, and community

Artisan vendors offering handcrafted goods and demonstrations

Information booths highlighting nonprofit organizations and regional resources

Each element of the festival is designed to foster conversation, learning, and creative exchange, making The Mountain Grrl Experience as enriching as it is entertaining.
