Dykstra Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor of Law, UC Davis School of Law Akhil Reed Amar is an American legal scholar who is Sterling Professor of Law and Political Science at Yale University. He is a scholar of originalism, executive power, judicial power, the Bill of Rights, federalism, constitutional history and criminal procedure.

What does the Constitution really say about birthright citizenship and how does the Supreme Court decide cases that shape the nation? Join two of the country's foremost constitutional scholars, Vikram David Amar and Akhil Reed Amar, for an engaging discussion of one of today's most consequential constitutional questions.

They will examine the Supreme Court's recent birthright citizenship ruling, why it matters far beyond immigration policy and what the justices' opinions reveal about the Roberts Court's approach to constitutional interpretation and originalism. The conversation will also offer a rare look inside the Supreme Court's decision-making process, exploring how justices rely not only on the arguments of the parties before them, but also on amicus briefs and other sources that can influence the Court's reasoning.
