Our Culinary Roots: La Tamalada

Kick off the two-day Conference on Texas: Our Culinary Roots by getting your hands in the masa! The Witte’s 18th annual La Tamalada brings people together to explore one of Texas’ most beloved food traditions: making tamales.

Discover the thousands of years of history behind this familiar food, then make tamales yourself. Each participant will make and take home a dozen tamales and the skills to host their own tamalada.

The experience also includes a custom Witte apron and a private guided tour of the special exhibition, Gather ’Round the Table: Texas Food Traditions.
