Civic Park: Move with MADD
Move with MADD gathers the community at Civic Park in Walnut Creek to raise awareness about the dangers and consequences of drunk and impaired driving. Created to honor the organizer’s mother and a 12-year-old friend who were killed by a drunk driver when the organizer was 15, it offers options to participate individually or as part of a team, including Team Joyce and Irene.
The event features police canines, a presence from Waymo, informational booths, music, and a raffle supported by many local sponsors. All proceeds stay within the community.
Special attention is given to teens and young adults with opportunities to learn, highlighted by the statistic that two in three people are affected by the actions of an impaired driver.
